The fortress of Nornstead was located in the middle land between Havack and Streckhorn. Legend holds that the town was cursed by a god or goddess (different legends different deities) and thereafter, all women becoming with child in Nornstead gave birth to twins, triplets, and quadruplets. This period lasted for almost a decade. When the youngest of the children began to grow, it became clear that they were unlike their siblings. Those who visited Nornstead before its fall claim that the children were peculiar and suspicious. They told stories of horrors in Nornstead that no civilized person could verify.
One full moon, the children of Nornstead rose up, revealed their true forms, and slew their human families. The city was overrun by the cursed: doppelgangers. Since that time, more than a century has passed, but the old curse remains. Only the foolhearty or the ignorant tread within the walls of Nornstead for the doppelgangers are still there, waiting for prey.
